Bears :
Why |
The Cub |
This painting is done on board covered with a very rough hessian cloth. I wanted to convey the feeling of warmth in this painting. As we are faced with increasing global temperatures that are causing the home of these magnificent animal to disappear. And them along with it.
$300.00 Panda BearThe Panda was alot of fun to paint. The "black" of the coat was a challenge as nothing in nature is really black. This work is currently hanging in the lounge of a friends home so sorry it is Not for Sale.
The Very Hungry Little BearThis is quite a large painting. It drew alot of comment when I was painting it and I had to point out to several people that only a starving bear would eat a whale caucus. The preferred food for a polar bear is fur seal due to the high fat content. The energy a bear gets from whale meat is not enough to sustain them. plus a whale is a bit too big for a bear to hunt. This work is a comment on the effect we humans are having on both these species of animals that we share this planet with.

This painting was a challenge as there was alot of white that wasn't really white. I became very attached to this work as I was painting it. I wished to convey a sense of protecting something fragile, which is why I chose to paint a cub.
$300.00 Red PandaThe Red panda is technically not a bear. However it was too cute to not paint.
$300.00 I AmThis work is of a more philosophical nature.with the space behind the bear I was contemplating the spiritual connection all living things share. The way the bear was posed also spoke to me of closeness and connection.

Its a Bears LifeThis work is a direct comment on the cruelty we humans inflict on these magnificent creatures. Weather we put them in tiny spaces so we can come and look at them. Put a ring through their nose and force them through pain to 'dance' for our amusement. Make them fight starving dogs for 'sport'. Or hunt them as 'trophies".

TimeThis work is still being painted. I am exploring ideas around time and protecting what is precious now so it will last into the future.
